  3. How to Log into LINK2©

Each of the present users have the same password:  *zx*.   You can change this after logging in the first time as you wish.  At log-in make sure you type in  *Vince* , then tab to next field, then *Jelenic* exactly.  No extra spaces, the log-in procedure is particular about exactness.  After first log-in you may choose to be either of the other users, or change the names of all users by deleting and adding as you see fit.  There is a button added to help you in case someone forgets their password.  This is the only administrator function included in this demo, accessible through the LOCK button.

  8. Starting LINK2©Simulnet.

  10.   The LINK2© system was designed to be started from the LINK2© stack.  Any changes to the names of the files or folders will invalidate many functions.  The best solution is to always start LINK2© from the lINK2 stack, and even better, from an alias either on your desktop, or from At Ease®.  Because the network is designed for kids, I leave your security questions to be best solved by the user.  
  11. At ease has worked great for me in most cases.  If you have other security features, such as FolderBolt©, or others they should not interfere.  I give no guarantee to such, and would like to hear from anyone who uses security features that work/do not work.

  15.      When compacting LINK2© it is necessary to have disk space available on the hard disk at approximately double the size of the largest stack in the LINK2© folder.  In most cases this largest stack will be the Sounds Stack, or a very long Story.  The Sounds stack, as supplie with the original LINK2© system is approximately 575 K in size.  Therefore you should have a hard disk with at least 1 Meg of hard disk space available when running the compacting tool in LINK2©.  This is normal.  If you run your Macintosh with less space than this, under any circumstances and with any program, you may be in for surprises of many sorts.  That last Meg of hard disk space is simply a cost of doing business the Mac way.

  17.    You must decide when it is best to compact the stacks.  The system runs faster, and consumes less space when compacted often.  How often, depends on use.  Under normal circumstances (30 users with 1 hour per week using LINK2©) the recommended compaction should occur once a week.   Depending on your hardware, especially on hard disk speed, this should take between 1 and 10 minutes.    It is absolutely vital that you do not turn the machine off, nor disconnect anything during this procedure.  If such should happen it is not that all hope is lost, but rather that a process will be necessary to replace the corrupted files, if necessary. 
  18.    Care must be taken during compacting, but only the administrator is authorized to carry out this task, and therefore risks are kept at a minimum.
